A few days before the beginning of the Fall semester, Jason Womack posted a prompt on Facebook that popped up just as I was about to close it. He asked, “What five things are you NOT going to do today?” Here were my responses:
- Respond to that thing that just came across my Facebook feed. Someone who is wrong on the internet will just have to stay wrong, and there’s nothing I can do about it.
- Suggest that those people do that thing as it would inevitably involve me in some kind of future discussion that’s a low-value use of my time if it isn’t ignored outright.
- Open Twitter right now.
- Say “I’ll do it later” about the stuff I need to do to get ready for the semester that starts on Monday.
- Overeat at dinner.
